We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Traffic Management Operative to join our team at our head offices in Abergavenny. We are looking for a colleague who has experience working in sectors such as highways, infrastructure, utilities, civils, or rail.  Due to the nature of the role, we are open to applications from candidates who live in; or can commute from some of the following areas: Newport, Cardiff, Swansea, Penarth, Barry, Porthcawl, Neath, Usk, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Llanfoist, Bristol, Chepstow, Pontypridd.

Main ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Service Manager, the Traffic Management Operative will be assisting the Operational, Network Management, and Commercial Teams in managing, delivering and evaluating small scale civil engineering schemes and projects. You will be based in Abergavenny, but working on the A465 road around the Merthyr Tydfil area.

On a day to day basis, key responsibilities of the Traffic Management Operative will include the following (not exhaustive):

Working on construction schemes including the repairing of roads, cycleways, and footways
Repairing kerbs, edgings, block and flagged paving
Maintaining roadside verges and repairing surfacing cracks and potholes
Excavating and reinstating trenches for drainage repair
Working on grass cutting, weed treatment, minor landscape and tree works
Overseeing supply chain activities such as gulley cleansing and jetting
When required, attending meetings with the operational supervisors and operational manager
Attending briefings on risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work
Preparing accurate site records such as plant, vehicle inspection sheets and gritter reports; presenting these to the operational manager on a daily basis
Ensuring waste produced on site is correctly identified and disposed in the approved manner
Promoting reporting of close calls, near misses, incidents and accidents in the interest of SHEQ
Ensuring any property damage, faults with plant or equipment is actioned for repair and reported to the Operations ManagerThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be a Traffic Management Operative who has previous experience of setting up traffic management systems. It is also preferable for any prospective candidates to be willing to work out of normal working hours and to have had training in HSG47.

**Please note that having an HGV Licence is essential for this role**
