Trade Counter Manager – Plumbing & Heating
Location: Berkshire
Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
Working Pattern: Four-day or five-day working week available
Simon Acres Recruitment is working with a well-established and successful plumbing and heating merchant to recruit an experienced Trade Counter Manager for their team in Berkshire.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded individual to take ownership of a trade counter operation, lead by example and help drive sales while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
The Role
As Trade Counter Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the trade counter, ensuring the team delivers an efficient, knowledgeable and professional service to customers. You'll play a key role in developing customer relationships, maximising sales opportunities and ensuring the smooth operation of the department.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and motivating the trade counter team, supporting performance and development.
- Overseeing daily trade counter operations and ensuring excellent customer service.
- Using your plumbing and heating product knowledge to advise customers and support the team.
- Driving sales growth, identifying new business opportunities and maximising profitability.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with trade customers and suppliers.
- Managing customer enquiries, quotations, orders and sales transactions.
- Overseeing stock control, replenishment and the organisation of the trade counter.
- Ensuring the counter and surrounding areas are well presented, organised and compliant with health and safety requirements.
- Monitoring sales performance and supporting the achievement of branch targets.
- Working closely with the wider branch team to ensure operational efficiency.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a trade counter management or supervisory role within plumbing and heating or a related merchant environment.
- Strong plumbing and heating product knowledge.
- Proven sales ability and a commercially focused approach.
- Experience leading, motivating or developing a team.
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
- Strong organisation, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- A proactive attitude and the ability to lead by example in a busy trade environment.
