Job Title: Town Planner / Senior Town Planner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Town Planner or Senior Town Planner to join a growing independent planning and development consultancy.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious planner looking to take the next step in their career within a close-knit team, where you will have genuine responsibility for your own projects and direct exposure to clients, developers, consultants and local authorities.
The business works across a varied portfolio of development projects, including strategic land, residential and mixed-use development, regeneration, commercial, industrial, logistics and city-centre schemes. The team is involved from the early stages of projects through to securing planning consents and delivering successful outcomes for clients.
The Role
As a Town Planner / Senior Town Planner, you will work on a varied portfolio of projects and play an important role in providing commercially focused planning advice.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing planning projects from inception through to determination
* Preparing and coordinating planning applications, planning appraisals and supporting documents
* Providing planning and development advice to private and public-sector clients
* Undertaking planning policy research and assessing development opportunities
* Working closely with architects, developers, landowners and wider consultant teams
* Liaising with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
* Supporting strategic land promotion and major development projects
* Attending client meetings, site visits and planning committees where required
* Building and maintaining strong client relationships
* Taking increasing responsibility for projects and contributing to the continued growth of the consultancy
About You
We are looking for a commercially minded Town Planner or Senior Town Planner with strong UK planning experience and a genuine interest in development.
You will ideally have:
* Relevant experience within a planning consultancy or local authority
* A good understanding of the UK planning system
* Experience working on planning applications and development projects
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* The confidence to engage with clients, consultants and planning officers
* The ability to manage your own workload and take ownership of projects
* A pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to planning
* MRTPI or working towards chartership would be advantageous
For a Senior Town Planner, experience managing projects and developing client relationships would be particularly beneficial.
