Description:

A well-established engineering and manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join its production team.

This is a varied, hands-on role involving the fabrication and TIG welding of bespoke stainless-steel food processing equipment for both UK and international customers.

The Role

You will be responsible for welding and fabricating stainless steel components and assemblies, working with materials ranging from 1mm to 12mm thickness. The role includes pipework and purge welding, along with general fabrication and sheet-metal work.

Key responsibilities include:

TIG welding stainless steel from 1mm–12mm thickness
Fabrication and assembly of bespoke equipment
Stainless-steel pipework and purge welding
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Working to specified tolerances and bend allowances
Operating sheet-metal and fabrication machinery
Producing high-quality work to engineering standards
Working effectively as part of a production team
Supporting installation work at customer sites when required
Maintaining high standards of health & safety, quality and housekeeping
About You

The successful Welder / Fabricator will ideally have:

Proven TIG welding and fabrication experience
Experience working with stainless steel
Experience with pipework and purge welding
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Good understanding of tolerances and bend allowances
Experience using sheet-metal/fabrication machinery
Strong attention to detail and quality
Good understanding of workplace health & safety
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
A City & Guilds qualification in Welding/Fabrication or a recognised engineering apprenticeship would be advantageous, although relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.

Working Hours

39 hours per week, Monday to Friday:

Monday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Tuesday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm
10-minute morning break and 30-minute lunch break
