Description:

Purpose of the Job

1. The purpose of the job is to test powertrain components for the automotive electric vehicle industry. Typical tests will include thermal, efficiency, drag, torque and EMF, etc.

2. The development and assembly of test equipment, support of systems test and validation activities, as well as the gathering of test data

3. Support the resolution of failure modes in order to ensure components meet product specifications

4. Work in a small team with a high level of autonomy, managing own day to day work load

Main duties to be carried out

1. Completion of tests for the company’s range of powertrain components and possibly prototype vehicles.

2. Support the build and commissioning of test systems and analysis of test data

3. Work closely with development team who will define the tests

4. Support the develop of SOPs in line with product quality standards relating to the test area

5. Execution of test plans in line appropriate standards to attain certification

6. Take ownership of tasks

7. Attend project review meetings and deliver on key milestones

8. Demonstrate a keen desire to learn and develop your skills and engineering knowledge.

Skills and Capabilities required

1. A recognised qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, would be beneficial but is not essential.

2. Proven experience as a test technician, ideally within a product development / R&D environment.

3. Experience of setting up test rigs, performing test and gathering test data.

4. Experience of testing electromechanical products / components (ideally automotive, aerospace, or similar)

5. A methodical approach to tasks, with a good eye for detail.

6. The ability to understand and work from engineering drawings, test specifications, processes, and procedures.

7. Be a good problem solver, with the ability to proactively provide alternative solutions.

8. Able to support fault and failure analysis.

9. Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and problems.

10. Experience of failure resolution / problem solving using 8D processes or similar

11. Able to work effectively in a fast paced, small company environment in conjunction with test technicians

12. Able to process test data and support the creation of test reports

13. Able to understand and deliver tasks specified in Test Requests and Process

14. Previous experience within an EV test environment would be preferred

15. Good electrical engineering understanding

16. Sound understanding of safety requirements.

17. Good problem solver with meticulous attention to detail

18. Good organisational, planning and communication skills
