We are currently recruiting for temporary accommodation support assistants to work in the Birmingham area

JOB PURPOSE

Deliver a responsive and customer focused temporary accommodation (TA) tenancy support service that enables customers to sustain their TA tenancy and successfully move on into suitable secured accommodation.

Efficiently deliver back office support and respond to customer telephone and email enquiries in a courteous and professional manner.

Support with the monitoring and recording of TA property inspections, TA Move On activity, floating support visits and occupancy check outcomes.

Support the service to compile TA suitability review paperwork and case bundles for court proceedings.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities may include any of those detailed below and may be varied according to the needs of the designated service area(s). They may also include any other duties that are commensurate with the grade and nature of the post. There is an expectation that the post holder will develop the key competencies to ensure flexible and integrated working across the Directorate.

Support the service to ensure all areas of managing a TA service is operating as efficiently as possible.

update and maintain customer records on the relevant databases and monitoring spreadsheets.

Set-up tenancy agreements, quality check licence agreements and TA admission forms.

Help the service to monitor homeless household's attendance in TA.

Support with the monitoring and recording of service information.

Collect, record and share customer and service performance information.

Help the service to manage static arrear accounts and check invoices.

Be aware of the risk of fraud, error, child and adult protection issues and raise any concerns to your line manager.

Maintain knowledge of Homelessness and relevant housing legislation.

Carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the Data Protection Act, the Health & Safety at Work Act and other relevant legislation, as well as Council policies, procedures, Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.

Take responsibility, appropriate to the post, for ensuring compliance with council policies and procedures aimed at promoting and safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable children and adults.

Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade that may be required. These may be varied from time to time to meet the needs of the service.

Person specification

Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment that is driven by strict and demanding deadlines.

Experience of responding to complex and sensitive situations displaying empathy and diplomacy.

Experience of maintaining confidential paperwork.

Experience of carrying out office duties such as taking telephone calls, responding to emails from customers, typing and updating systems.

Experience of using IT systems in order to input and maintain records.

Experience of managing a number of conflicting priorities effectively to achieve service objectives.

Knowledge of homelessness, relevant housing legislation.
