PURPOSE

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer with expertise in writing documentation for new and on-going projects to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical writing, a deep understanding of machinery, ideally robotic systems, and a thorough knowledge of machinery standards. This role requires the ability to produce clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation that supports our engineering, product development, and customer support teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documents, including user manuals, installation guides, maintenance procedures, and technical specifications for robotic integration systems.

Collaborate with the Technical Manager and CTO to facilitate and embed a comprehensive risk assessment process within the company, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of potential hazards while maintaining compliance with safety regulations. This role involves working closely with key stakeholders to integrate risk management practices into all operational procedures and fostering a culture of safety and awareness throughout the organisation.

Research and identify applicable regulatory and industry compliance standards and codes.

Maintain and catalogue evidence of compliance, including technical files, risk assessments, and Declarations of Conformity/Incorporation to CE, UKCA, and UL/CSA requirements.

Prepare Operational and Maintenance Manuals in collaboration with the wider technical team.

Manage and develop the company's Quality and Environmental Management Systems.

Assess compliance with identified standards (including BS, EN, ISO, and UL/CSA) through analysis, devising a program of tests where necessary.

Develop technical and functional specification documents, working closely with clients/potential clients and the technical team. Write technical reports/articles.

Proofread and edit documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency, adhering to company style guides and standards.

Stay updated with the latest advancements and machinery standards, incorporating new knowledge into documentation practices.

Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.

Sustainable and safe practices.

EDUCATION

C&G or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering, or equivalent time served experience. Degree in Technical writing /Engineering discipline desirable, or equivalent experience is required.

EXPERIENCE

Previous experience in a similar role, across multiple different sites.

Strong understanding of machinery systems, including hardware and software components.

Familiarity with machinery standards such as; UK Supply of Machinery (Safety) regulations, European Machinery directive (2006/42/EC), ISO 12100, ISO (phone number removed), ISO 13850, IEC 60204

Organisational skills to complete a variety of tasks and assignments in an effective manner.

Skilled in the use of software such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.

Able to safely drive own or company vehicles to perform assigned duties.

Able to travel approximately 50% of the time.

BACKGROUND CRITERIA

Successful applicants will undergo a background check and are required to provide references.

Must have a clean, full driving licence.

Valid Passport.

Probation period of 6 months
