Technical Supervisor - Critical Services
Location: Brighton, East Sussex
Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:00-17:00 (40 hours per week)
We are seeking an experienced Technical Supervisor to lead engineering maintenance activities within a critical environment in Brighton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer with supervisory experience who is ready to take ownership of technical operations, coordinate workloads and contractors, and ensure critical mechanical and electrical systems operate safely and reliably.
You will lead by example, support and develop the engineering team, oversee planned and reactive maintenance, manage escalations and drive continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate daily workloads, maintenance activities and work orders across the engineering team.
Provide technical guidance, support and training to engineers.
Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
Monitor outstanding work orders, review completed work and identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability.
Support the safe operation and maintenance of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, Permit to Work procedures and Safe Systems of Work.
Manage contractors, review performance and ensure compliance with site procedures.
Act as a key point of contact for client escalations, technical issues and operational incidents.
Prepare reports, communicate risks and recommend improvements to maintenance processes.
Provide holiday, sickness and training cover where required.
Essential Requirements
Relevant technical qualification and at least 5 years of job-related experience.
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, or equivalent.
18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
Experience in engineering maintenance, ideally within a critical environment or critical building services.
Strong technical problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
Excellent organisation and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate workloads and contractors.
Good understanding of health and safety, risk management and safe working procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Full UK driving licence.
Willingness to participate in the on-call rota.Previous experience as a Shift Manager, Supervisor or Lead Engineer is preferred.
Salary & Benefits
Up to £55,000 basic salary.
Monday-Friday working hours, 08:00-17:00.
Permanent position.
25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
On-call allowance of £250 per week, as outlined in the package.
Minimum four hours' overtime pay for call-outs, at enhanced rates.

On-Call Requirements
Participation in an on-call rota is required, covering out-of-hours incidents during the week and weekends. Call-outs receive a minimum four-hour overtime payment, with rates of 1.5x Monday to Saturday and 2.0x on Sundays and bank holidays.
