TECHNICAL SALES ENGINEER
Location: Saltash, Cornwall
Salary: Up to £42k
Hours: Permanent, Full-Time, 7:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Thursday. Then 7:30am – 1:30pm on a Friday

We are supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation in their search for a Sales Engineer to join their growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys working with customers and developing innovative technical solutions.

Operating within advanced manufacturing sectors including renewable energy, aerospace and marine, you will work closely with customers to understand production challenges, identify opportunities for improvement and develop bespoke engineering solutions that enhance efficiency, quality and performance.

Working alongside internal engineering teams, you will support projects from initial enquiry through to proposal development and project commencement, building strong technical relationships with customers across international markets.

The Role: As Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Customer Relationship Management – Building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing customers.
Technical Solution Development – Understanding customer manufacturing processes and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality and operational performance.
Proposal & Quotation Preparation – Developing bespoke equipment proposals, technical solutions and commercial quotations tailored to customer requirements.
Sales Cycle Management – Managing opportunities throughout the full sales lifecycle from enquiry through to project commencement.
Engineering Collaboration – Working closely with engineering and technical teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible and aligned with customer needs.
Product Demonstrations & Testing – Supporting equipment demonstrations, customer trials and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
Customer Visits & Industry Events – Attending customer meetings, trade exhibitions and industry events across the UK and internationally.
Market Intelligence – Monitoring competitor activity, industry developments and customer feedback to identify future opportunities and support business growth.
Technical Consultation – Acting as a trusted advisor to customers by providing engineering-led recommendations and guidance. What We’re Looking For:
Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Commercial awareness with the ability to understand customer requirements and business objectives.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Confidence discussing technical solutions with customers and stakeholders.
Self-motivated and proactive approach to work.
Desire to contribute to a growing and ambitious business.
Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe
