The Opportunity

We are seeking a technically capable Technical Operations Engineer to support and oversee the technical operations associated with the manufacturing, testing, quality and compliance of electronic products.

This is a varied, hands-on role working across manufacturing processes, firmware programming, quality engineering, regulatory compliance and supplier operations.

You will work closely with internal engineering teams, contract manufacturers and external suppliers to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, meet required technical and regulatory standards, and are ready for reliable production and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Production

Oversee PCB assembly processes, workmanship standards and component handling requirements.

*

Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT).

*

Ensure production testing processes are robust and effective.

*

Support manufacturing readiness and production process improvements.

Firmware & Product Security

*

Coordinate production firmware programming.

*

Manage signed firmware and secure programming procedures.

*

Oversee secure key and certificate loading during manufacturing.

*

Ensure production processes maintain firmware integrity and security.

Quality & Process Engineering

*

Apply quality and process risk management methodologies, including PFMEA.

*

Implement and monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC).

*

Manage measurement system analysis, including Gage R&R.

*

Drive process improvements, defect prevention and manufacturing quality.

Regulatory & Compliance

*

Support EMC, electrical safety and radio compliance requirements.

*

Ensure consideration of product cybersecurity requirements.

*

Monitor relevant environmental regulations and standards.

*

Manage battery compliance and lithium battery shipping requirements.

Systems, Suppliers & Technical Operations

*

Maintain manufacturing traceability systems and processes.

*

Support component engineering and component lifecycle management.

*

Manage technical relationships and commercial considerations with Contract Electronics Manufacturers (CEMs).

*

Coordinate supplier performance and manufacturing-related technical issues.

*

Support mechanical integration, including moulding, tooling and associated manufacturing processes.

Skills & Experience

*

Experience in technical operations, electronics manufacturing or engineering environments.

*

Knowledge of PCB assembly and production processes.

*

Understanding of DFM, DFT and production testing.

*

Familiarity with firmware programming and secure manufacturing.

*

Knowledge of quality methodologies, including PFMEA, SPC and Gage R&R.

*

Understanding of EMC, safety, radio and cybersecurity compliance.

*

Awareness of environmental regulations, battery requirements and lithium shipping.

*

Experience working with suppliers, contract manufacturers and component engineering teams.

*

Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be a practical, technically minded engineer who can operate across multiple disciplines, bringing together manufacturing, engineering, quality and compliance.

You will be comfortable working with suppliers and contract manufacturers, resolving technical issues, improving operational processes and ensuring products move successfully from engineering development into production.

The role would suit someone who enjoys a varied technical operations position rather than being restricted to one specialist engineering discipline
