Technical Manager / Fresh Produce / Lancs

We are working with a leading supplier to major supermarkets and processing customers, who are renowned for their award-winning produce. They are seeking a dynamic Technical Manager to drive advancements in product quality and system development at their state-of-the-art facilities in near Preston.

As the Technical Manager, you'll lead the Technical Department in ensuring top-tier quality and food safety standards are upheld, while spearheading product and system improvements to meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Role and Responsibilities:

Lead HACCP/VACCP/TACCP teams and manage customer audits and visits.
Oversee new product development from trials to launch, including specifications and packaging.
Coordinate microbial, nutritional, and allergen testing, analysing data for continuous improvement.
Maintain product standards through benchmarking panels and store visits.
Ensure technical compliance for suppliers and third-party businesses.
Contribute to sustainability and environmental initiatives.
Manage BRC compliance and audits.
Serve as technical liaison for customers and regulatory bodies.
Handle technical queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
Conduct hygiene audits and oversee hygiene standards.
Develop expertise in technical portals and support technical team members.People Management:

Lead and develop a cross-skilled workforce, promoting succession planning.
Conduct regular appraisals and identify areas for development.
Ensure all employees are trained and competent.
Manage holiday authorization and absence management.
Collaborate with HR on policies, procedures, and employee relations.
Support performance management and welfare cases.
Encourage engagement and uphold equal opportunity principles.Role Requirements:

5+ years in food industry technical roles, including NPD or quality.
Expertise in BRC requirements and audits.
5+ years in a managerial position.
Familiarity with customer portals and supermarkets.
HACCP and food safety certifications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT.
Fluent in English, both verbal and written.
Willingness to learn and develop skills.Personal Attributes:
