We are recruiting an experienced Technical Manager to join a well-established food manufacturing operation in Scunthorpe.
This is a hands-on factory-based role with responsibility for the day-to-day technical function, ensuring the site consistently meets food safety, quality, legal, customer and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Quality and site leadership to maintain high technical standards, strengthen food-safety culture and ensure the factory remains continuously audit ready.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day technical leadership across the manufacturing site.
* Own and maintain the site HACCP system, ensuring it remains current, validated and effective.
* Ensure CCPs, control points and associated monitoring systems are correctly implemented and verified.
* Lead investigations into food-safety incidents, deviations and potential product contamination.
* Maintain and continuously improve the site's Quality Management System.
* Ensure specifications, procedures, work instructions and quality standards remain accurate and up to date.
* Manage customer technical queries, complaints and requests within agreed timescales.
* Manage site allergen controls, including segregation, cleaning, labelling and verification.
* Maintain strong standards of GMP, food safety, legality and product quality.
* Support root-cause investigations and implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
* Work closely with Production and Quality teams to resolve technical issues.
* Ensure the site remains continuously prepared for customer, regulatory and third-party audits.
* Promote a strong food-safety and quality culture throughout the factory.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across technical systems and processes.
Candidate Requirements
You will ideally have previous Technical Management experience within food manufacturing, with strong working knowledge of HACCP, food-safety systems, quality management and factory compliance.
You should be confident managing technical issues on the factory floor, conducting investigations, dealing with customer requirements and maintaining high standards of documentation and audit readiness.
Experience with allergen management, QMS, GMP, root-cause analysis and food-manufacturing audits would be highly relevant.
