Technical Engineer

Location: Enfield, North London
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
Start Date: To be discussed

I am currently representing a well-established and highly regarded manufacturer within the architectural lighting industry, who is looking to recruit an experienced Technical Engineer to join their growing technical and design team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous technical experience within the lighting industry who is looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will join an experienced team and play an important role in supporting product testing, compliance, technical documentation, quality control and product development.

The Role

Responsibilities will include:

Supporting the technical and design teams across a range of projects and activities
Maintaining laboratory procedures and processes
Tracking and managing product testing requests and samples
Conducting photometric, thermal and other product testing
Supporting product compliance with relevant technical standards and requirements
Coordinating product testing with external testing facilities
Managing testing requirements relating to standards including EN(phone number removed), CE, UL, IP and fire testing
Monitoring and reporting on upcoming lighting and environmental legislation and regulations
Managing and maintaining product technical files in collaboration with the design team
Creating and amending product specification sheets and installation guides
Using Adobe Creative Suite to produce and update technical documentation
Reformatting and updating technical drawings using AutoCAD
Researching new technologies, materials and components to support product development
Attending site visits when required to investigate and resolve product or installation issues
Supporting incoming goods inspections and quality control processes
Maintaining and updating technical information and website content
Providing general administrative and departmental support where required

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous technical experience within the lighting industry
An understanding of lighting products, technologies and technical requirements
Knowledge of product testing, certification and compliance standards
Experience or knowledge of standards such as EN(phone number removed) and UL would be advantageous
Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Teams
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite is essential
Knowledge of AutoCAD would be beneficial, although this is not essential
Strong organisational and project management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
The ability to work independently and manage their own workload
A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
The ability to manage demanding workloads, targets and tight deadlines
A flexible and proactive approach to work
Salary: £28,000 - £32,000
