Technical Author

Technical Author (aerospace, aircraft, rotary aircraft, helicopter). Our client, An engineering consulting firm is looking a Technical Author (aerospace, aircraft, rotary aircraft, helicopter) with experience is technical authoring or even within production, build or assembly line with first hand knowledge of aircraft componentry that could apply their knowledge in a technical authoring capacity so could be a Manufacturing Engineer or similar

Technical Author / Manufacturing Engineer Principle Tasks/Responsibilities:
As a Technical Author you will create, edit and maintain technical documents, including Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Service Bulletins, Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (AMM) and Illustrated Parts Catalogues (IPC) to meet the agreed requirements.
You will have the ability to read engineering drawings, have knowledge of aircraft operational requirements, service instructions and aircraft repairs.

Support the technical verification and validation of technical documentation.
Ensure technical documentation is produced to required quality, timeframes and standards.
Ensure quality control of documentation in accordance with applicable technical authoring specifications and standards.
Maintain records and files of all versions and revisions in conjunction with document control.Technical Author / Manufacturing Engineer ideal Qualifications/Key Skills/Experience:

Educated to at least HNC level or equivalent in a relevant aviation related subject. Alternatively, to have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship followed by a period of employment in all aspects of aircraft maintenance and overhaul, sufficient to gain the necessary practical experience for the job role.
Detailed knowledge of Supportability and Air Publication specifications e.g. ASD S1000D (Issue 2.1 and 2.2), Def-Stan 00-60, DAvP 70, DAvP77, ATA2-02-90, etc.
Working knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE-100).
Knowledge of technical authoring and production tools e.g. Framemaker, EAGLE, Eagle Publishing System (EPS) and CAPS2000.
Have the ability to interpret engineering drawings and use Dassault Enovia.
Excellent inter-personal skills.
Have ability to work to changing deadlines under pressure.
The Technical Author / Manufacturing Engineer salary is £40-50k with excellent benefits
