The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Architect to support a central government client in reviewing and improving the architecture of an existing national surveillance system for an established digital platform within a complex public-sector environment for a prominent government agency (end-client).

This is an opportunity to shape its technical direction, identify practical improvements and support its move towards a more resilient, scalable and sustainable service; identifying risks and dependencies, reducing technical gaps and developing practical recommendations to improve resilience, scalability and cloud cost efficiency.

You will be consulting alongside Product Managers and Delivery Leads, as well as Engineering and Operational Support teams to assess the existing architecture and turn your findings into clear recommendations and achievable delivery priorities.

Skills and Experience:

* Strong Technical Architecture experience, ideally within central government or a similarly regulated environment.

* Proven experience reviewing existing architectures, identifying technical debt and assessing dependencies.

* Good understanding of cloud architecture, ideally Azure and/or AWS.

* Experience with technical governance, architectural assurance and technical risk management.

* Ability to translate complex technical findings into clear recommendations, prioritised actions and delivery plans.

* This is an excellent opportunity for a technically hands-on Technical Architect to shape and deliver complex solutions within a critical public health service.

Role and Responsibilities:

* Review existing system architecture, technical dependencies, technical debt and risks.

* Identify opportunities for technical rationalisation, cloud cost optimisation and improved resilience.

* Provide technical assurance and input into the prioritisation of backlog items and the forward roadmap.

* Work closely with Product, Delivery, Engineering, support teams and delivery partners to support technical planning and sequencing.

* Help transition the existing surveillance system into a sustainable operating model, providing clear technical documentation and knowledge transfer.

N.B. Candidates will have or be willing to undergo a basic level of security clearance prior to starting the role (5-7 days lead time).
