CNC TURNER-TEAM LEADER

Purpose of the Role

To support the Production Manager in maintaining the production schedule in line with customer delivery requirements through effective team leadership, development and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

* Uphold and enforce company standards, policies, procedures and Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) requirements.

* Ensure employees and machine tools within the CNC Turning section operate efficiently and in accordance with established manufacturing processes.

* Support the Production Manager in achieving the production schedule and meeting customer delivery dates.

* Monitor production progress, identify potential delays and assist with recovery plans to maintain delivery performance.

* Support quality improvement activities by implementing observations, reviews and corrective actions identified by the Quality department and Management team.

* Assist in implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 6S, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions arising from Material Review Board (MRB) activities.

* Develop and encourage the team to take ownership of system compliance, workplace organisation and housekeeping standards.

* Ensure team members consistently work safely, efficiently and in accordance with company standards and procedures.

* Support the Production Manager with employee inductions, probation reviews, performance management and disciplinary processes where required.

* Build and maintain effective working relationships with Quality Assurance and other departments, ensuring clear communication and collaboration across the business.

* Provide flexibility to support operational requirements when necessary.

Essential Skills & Experience

* Previous experience in a CNC Turning Team Leader or Senior CNC Setter/Operator role.

* Strong leadership and people management skills.

* Excellent organisational and time management abilities.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.

* Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.

* Sound understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.

* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

* Experience of working within a precision engineering or aerospace manufacturing environment is desirable.

* Strong understanding of quality standards and continuous improvement practices.

* Self-motivated, disciplined and committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship
