Description:

We are looking for an experienced Lead Teacher to join a specialist education provision supporting young people.

This is a genuine teaching and leadership role, giving you the opportunity to continue doing what you enjoy in the classroom while taking responsibility for the quality and development of education across the provision.

You’ll spend approximately 2 days a week teaching, delivering vocational learning and building strong relationships with learners. The remaining 3 days will be focused on leadership and management, supporting the teaching team and helping shape the quality of education across the site.

The Role

As Lead Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a safe, structured and aspirational learning environment for young people with a range of complex needs and behaviours.

Your time will be split between:

Teaching – approximately 2 days per week

* Delivering vocational learning and qualifications.

* Planning and delivering engaging, personalised lessons.

* Building positive and consistent relationships with learners.

* Supporting learners to develop their confidence, skills and independence.

* Working effectively with families and other professionals involved in supporting learners.

Leadership & Management – approximately 3 days per week

* Leading and developing the quality of teaching and learning across the provision.

* Supporting, challenging and developing teaching and support staff.

* Line managing staff, including regular supervision and performance reviews.

* Setting clear objectives and KPIs and monitoring progress against them.

* Managing the timetable and ensuring staffing is used effectively.

* Leading the development of the curriculum and subject areas.

* Developing and reviewing schemes of work and learning programmes.

* Monitoring learner progress, attendance and performance data and taking action where improvements are required.

* Identifying staff training and development needs and supporting continued professional development.

* Promoting consistent approaches to teaching, learning and behaviour management.

* Contributing to quality assurance and continuous improvement across the provision.

* Helping maintain high standards of safeguarding, teaching and learner support.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced teacher who is ready to take their career a step further and have a wider influence on both learners and the team around them.

You’ll ideally have:

* QTS, or a willingness to work towards it.

* Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, or relevant safeguarding experience/qualification.

* Experience working with young people with complex needs, additional learning needs and/or challenging behaviour.

* Previous experience of leading or line managing staff.

* Experience setting objectives or KPIs and conducting supervision and performance reviews.

* Strong knowledge of teaching, learning and behaviour management.

* The ability to adapt teaching and learning to meet individual needs.

* Confidence to lead, support and challenge colleagues when required.

* Strong organisational and communication skills.

* A genuine commitment to helping young people progress and achieve their potential.

Why Consider This Role?

This is an opportunity to move into a meaningful leadership position without giving up teaching.

You’ll still have two days a week in the classroom, keeping that direct connection with learners, while spending the other three days using your experience to lead the team, improve teaching and learning and influence the wider educational provision.

For someone who enjoys teaching but is ready for greater responsibility, influence and leadership, this offers the best of both worlds.

Most importantly, you’ll be working with young people who need educators who are prepared to see beyond the barriers and find an approach that works for them.

If you’re ready to combine your teaching experience with genuine leadership responsibility, we’d love to hear from you
