Teaching Assistant (One-to-One Support for Child with Additional Needs)

Location: North Chesterfield
Position: Teaching Assistant (One-to-One)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for a child with additional needs in Year 3 at our school in North Chesterfield. This role involves working closely with the child throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during break and lunch times, to ensure they receive the support they need to thrive in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one support for a child with additional needs, ensuring their safety, well-being, and engagement in classroom activities.
Assist the child during break and lunch times to ensure they are included and supported in social activities.
Collaborate closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to implement and follow the Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).
Adapt teaching materials and methods to meet the individual needs of the child.
Monitor and record the child's progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and other relevant staff.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the child.

Requirements:

Previous experience working in a similar role, particularly with children with additional needs.
A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with children.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
The ability to adapt to the child's evolving needs and to work flexibly within the school environment.
Team Teach training is beneficial, but not essential as training can be provided by the school.
