Role: Teaching Assistant
Location: Preston
Salary: £21,000 to £23,000 per annum
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Start: September

We are currently working in partnership with an SEN School in Preston where the needs of the children are number one priority. About the school:

The school has small class sizes with no more than 8 pupils in a class and the pupils are provided with two pathways including a GCSE route or functional skills route. Additionally, the School also offer vocational qualifications via the Personal Development Programme. The setting caters for students ages 9-16 who have an EHCP in place, therefore their approach to learning is child centered with a focus on ensuring all students are prepared with a mix of qualifications and life skills. Students in this setting have communication and behavioural challenges associated with Autism.

The school are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is compassionate, hardworking, organised and knowledgeable. The school are looking for an individual who is adaptable and can understand an EHCP and have experience and understanding about SEND. Students in the school finish earlier compared to mainstream, therefore time can be spent completing planning at the end of each school day.

Key requirements for the Teaching Assistant:

- Full UK Driving License and access to own transport is essential
- GCSE in Maths and English, Level 2 or C and above
- Experience with students with SEN and SEMH students
- Understanding of safeguarding policies

Key Responsibilities for the Teaching Assistant:

- Communicate effectively and build rapport with the students to inspire and motivate them
- Planning of learning activities
- Supporting children’s learning and helping with progression
- Support the Teacher with monitoring children’s concentration and concentration levels
- Promote a calming, learning environment
- Support children’s well-being
