Temporary Teaching Assistant - Hearing Impaired Students
Location: Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Position: Teaching assistant
Pay: £92 - £95 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary, with potential for a long-term position
At Academics we are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has experience with hearing impaired students to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Tunbridge Wells.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them to access their education fully within a mainstream school environment.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant supporting hearing-impaired students, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's inclusion/SEND team to provide effective support both inside and outside the classroom.
Your responsibilities may include:
Supporting students with hearing impairments to access the curriculum.
Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
Helping students to develop their confidence, independence and communication skills.
Supporting classroom activities and adapting resources where appropriate.
Working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.
Providing encouragement and pastoral support to students.
Promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment.Requirements
BSL Level 1 or above is essential.
Experience working with children or young people is desirable.
Experience supporting students with hearing impairments or SEND would be advantageous.
A patient, caring and supportive approach.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
The ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
A genuine commitment to helping students achieve their potential.
Must hold a DBS or be willing to apply for one.
