Monarch Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Handsworth, Birmingham, working within their Early Years SEND Hub. This is a full-time, ongoing role supporting young children with complex special educational needs and disabilities.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with additional needs and is committed to providing high-quality support within a specialist setting.

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils in the Early Years SEND Hub, supporting children with a range of complex needs. You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting pupils with complex SEND on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Delivering targeted interventions and learning activities under the direction of the class teacher
Assisting pupils with communication, sensory, emotional, and personal development needs
Providing personal care where required, including toileting and changing
Promoting inclusion, engagement, and independence throughout the school day
Supporting behaviour management strategies and maintaining a safe learning environment
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEND professionals, and parents/carers

Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

A Level 3 Childcare Qualification (essential)
Previous experience working with children with complex SEND needs
Experience supporting pupils within Early Years, SEND, or specialist education settings
A caring, patient, and resilient approach
Confidence in providing personal care support
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
