Teaching Assistant - Primary School

Clacton-on-Sea, Essex
Start: Immediately after October Half Term
Full Time | Monday-Friday | 5 Days Per Week
Primary School - £95-£100 per day

Simply Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Clacton-on-Sea to recruit an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately after the October half term.

This is a full-time position working five days per week. You will be supporting pupils across the school, including children who display challenging behaviour, so previous experience managing behavioural needs is essential. Experience gained within a school, SEND setting, alternative provision or another relevant education and training environment would be highly beneficial.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to help pupils access learning, remain engaged in lessons and make positive academic, social and emotional progress.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils.

Supporting children who display challenging behaviour.

Using positive behaviour-management and de-escalation strategies.

Helping pupils regulate their emotions and manage difficult situations.

Supporting children with their literacy, numeracy and general classroom learning.

Delivering targeted interventions and booster sessions when required.

Helping to prepare classroom resources and learning materials.

Encouraging pupils to remain focused, engaged and motivated during lessons.

Supporting children with additional learning needs where appropriate.

Promoting independence, confidence and positive social interaction.

Supporting pupils during transitions, breaktimes and lunchtimes.

Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to the class teacher.

Maintaining clear and consistent boundaries and reinforcing school expectations.

Helping to create a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate must have previous experience working with children who display challenging behaviour. You should be confident managing difficult situations while remaining calm, patient and consistent.

Previous experience within education and training is highly desirable, alongside strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils. Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, ASD or ADHD would also be advantageous.

Why Apply?

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of our partner primary schools in Clacton-on-Sea and become part of a supportive team committed to helping every child achieve their potential.

The position offers the opportunity to develop your experience within education and training while making a genuine difference to pupils who require additional support to successfully access their learning.

If you're an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time, five-day-per-week position starting immediately after the October half term, we'd love to hear from you.
