About the Role
Looking for your next opportunity as an SEN Teaching Assistant in Walthamstow?
It's a particularly busy time for us at Destination Education, and we are currently working with a range of welcoming and supportive mainstream primary schools across Walthamstow and the surrounding areas. We are expecting a variety of exciting SEN Teaching Assistant opportunities to become available, with schools looking for passionate and reliable support staff.
We are working on full-time, part-time, and supply opportunities, with roles involving 1:1 SEN support, small-group intervention, and wider classroom support. Whether you're looking for something full-time, need a part-time position, or want the flexibility of supply, we'd love to hear from you.
Supply can also be a great way to get yourself something fixed. It gives you the opportunity to experience different schools, build relationships with staff and pupils, and potentially find a school that is the right fit for you and move into a longer-term or permanent position.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with Special Educational Needs.
Support pupils with accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
Provide small-group and wider classroom support where required.
Support pupils with their academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider support team.The Ideal Candidate
Previous experience working with children is desirable.
Experience supporting pupils with SEN is advantageous.
Experience providing 1:1 support would be beneficial.
A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
Reliable, adaptable, and enthusiastic about working in education.
