Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can make a genuine difference every day?

Teaching Personnel is urgently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in the Yeovil area from September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and wants to play an important role in helping pupils develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential classroom support, working closely with teachers and the wider education team to create a positive, structured and inclusive learning environment.

You will support pupils with their educational, social and emotional development, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their personal goals.

Supporting pupils with a range of SEND and additional learning needs
Assisting teachers with classroom activities and personalised learning programmes
Providing one-to-one and small group support where required
Encouraging pupils to engage with learning and build confidence
Supporting communication, emotional regulation and independence skills
Helping to maintain a calm, safe and welcoming classroom environment
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals

Who We Are Looking For

Due to the urgent requirement for this position, we are seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant who can confidently step into the role and make a positive impact from the start.

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH or additional needs
Experience working in an education, childcare or support-based role
A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
The ability to build strong relationships with pupils quickly
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
The confidence and flexibility to hit the ground running
Experience within a specialist education environment is highly desirable; however, we welcome applications from candidates with transferable experience who are passionate about supporting young people and helping them succeed.
