Job Requirements of this Teaching Assistant job in Walsall

A dedicated Special Educational Needs provision in Walsall, committed to supporting young people aged 11 – 18 with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. The school mission is to provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and reach their full potential.

Experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.

Strong understanding of educational strategies and techniques tailored to meet the individual needs of students with diverse learning abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of young people with special needs.

Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations and manage challenging behaviors with sensitivity and professionalism.

Qualifications or Certificates:

A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred.

Additional training or certifications in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) would be advantageous.

Experience:

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role within a Special Educational Needs setting is highly desirable.

Experience implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to support student progress and well-being.

Familiarity with assistive technology and other resources to enhance learning outcomes for students with diverse needs.

Brief Overview of the Role:

Primarily focused on supporting young people aged 11 – 18 with Severe Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Condition, and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
