Part Time SEN Teaching Assistant | Kingsbury NW9 | 10:30am to 2:30pm

Principal Education is recruiting a part time SEN Teaching Assistant for an Ofsted Outstanding special school in Kingsbury, Brent. The school supports children and young people aged 3 to 19 with complex needs and learning difficulties. Every pupil has an EHCP, and many have autism or complex medical conditions. Teachers, therapists, families and support staff all work as one team around each child, and you'd be a real part of that.
The role
Four hours a day, 10:30am to 2:30pm, covering the heart of the school day: lessons, lunch and the afternoon.
Support pupils one to one and in small groups in class
Help pupils communicate using visuals, symbols, Makaton or communication aids
Support at lunchtime, including help with eating where needed
Provide personal care and support with medical needs, always with dignity
Work alongside the class team and therapists on each pupil's EHCP targets
Spot the small wins and celebrate them, because here they're huge
What you MUST demonstrate
Experience caring for or supporting people with additional needs. Healthcare Assistant, care worker, support worker, nursing assistant or SEN school experience all count. If you've worked as an HCA, your skills transfer straight in
A genuinely caring, patient and calm nature
Confidence with personal care
Availability 10:30am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
Two professional references and the right to work in the UK
