Teaching Assistant
The School
A special school providing individualised learning for pupils aged 4 to 19. Most pupils have profound learning difficulties, and all have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school provides a supportive and engaging environment where pupils achieve good progress against their EHCP outcomes.
The Role
You will be supporting an individual pupil to access their personalised curriculum. You will work under the guidance and support of the class teacher and senior leadership team (SLT). You also will be expected to use your initiative when delivering interventions.
Responsibilities
-Provide support for an individual pupil
-Support physical, social and emotional development
-Ensure safety and welfare is maintained
-Feedback to class teacher and SLT
-Collaborate with staff and work productively within a team
-Take part in all activities that the pupil undertakes
Essential Criteria
-Previous experience working in a special school
-Ability to build good relationships
-Ability to remain calm under pressure
-High levels of patience and flexibility
Desirable Criteria
-Teaching assistant qualification
