Prospero Teaching is recruiting an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant in Hemel Hempstead to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.

This role suits someone who can maintain clear boundaries, stay calm when situations become challenging and understand what a pupil's behaviour may be communicating.

Your role

Build positive working relationships with pupils who need additional support.

Provide individual and small-group help with learning and engagement.

Use agreed strategies to support emotional regulation and de-escalation.

Help pupils manage classroom routines, transitions and social situations.

Record progress and share concerns promptly with the relevant staff.

Your experience

Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs in a school, alternative provision or relevant youth setting.

Evidence of helping pupils re-engage with education.

Confidence following individual support and behaviour plans.

A patient, reliable approach with strong safeguarding awareness.

Experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or Learning Support Assistant would be relevant. De-escalation training is useful; please include any current training on your CV.

Your ability to stay consistent and build a working relationship with pupils will be central to this role.
