Teaching Assistant - Alsager

Long-Term | Full-Time | Specialist ASD School

A specialist SEND school in Alsager is looking for recruit a Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position for the right person.

The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment for young people with additional needs, helping pupils develop confidence, independence and the skills they need to succeed. The school support students in both primary and secondary.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide high-quality learning and pastoral support to pupils with ASD and additional needs.

You'll provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils engage with lessons, develop confidence and make progress both academically and personally.

As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play an important role in understanding each pupil as an individual and recognising that every young person has different needs, strengths and ways of communicating.

You'll support pupils to overcome barriers to learning, develop positive strategies and build their confidence and independence.

Working alongside teachers and specialist staff, you'll help create an environment where pupils feel safe, understood and supported.

You'll Support Pupils To:

Access and engage with their learning
Develop confidence, independence and resilience
Build positive relationships with adults and peers
Develop communication and social skills
Follow routines and classroom expectations
Develop positive attitudes towards education
Recognise their strengths and celebrate achievements

Your Experience

We're looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant who can build strong, trusting relationships with young people, remain calm and patient, and genuinely believe in the potential of every pupil.

Your experience could come from:

Teaching Assistant or SEN roles
ASD/SEND settings
Special schools
Mainstream schools
Alternative Provision
Pastoral or Behaviour Support
Youth Work or Mentoring
Children's Care or Residential Support

Work effectively as a Teaching Assistant alongside teachers and specialist staff

Support pupils with ASD and additional needs
