About the Role:

A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate individual to join a Special Needs Unit attached to a vibrant mainstream primary school in Tooting. The role involves providing tailored support to nursery-aged children with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the best start to their educational journey.

SEN Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

Provide Individualised Support: Assist in the development and implementation of personalised learning plans for children with special educational needs.
Facilitate Learning Activities: Support the lead teacher in creating and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that cater to the individual needs of each child.
Promote Inclusion: Encourage social interaction and facilitate the integration of children with special needs within the mainstream school environment.
Manage Behaviour: Implement positive behaviour management strategies to support the emotional and social development of the children.
Monitor Progress: Observe and record the progress of each child, providing feedback to the teacher and parents.
Ensure Safety and Wellbeing: Maintain a safe and nurturing environment, attending to the personal care needs of the children when necessary.

SEN Teaching Assistant Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in early years education or special needs support (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years Educator).
Experience: Previous experience working with nursery-aged children in an educational setting, particularly those with special educational needs.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach to working with young children.
Attributes: A proactive, flexible, and positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
