KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Autism Support) – September Start
Location: Primary School in Waterlooville
Contract: Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team from September, providing 1:1 support for a Key Stage 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them access learning, develop communication skills, and thrive within a nurturing primary school environment.

The Role

Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS1 pupil with Autism.
Support the child in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life.
Use visual supports, structured routines, and autism-friendly strategies to promote engagement and independence.
Assist with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents, and external professionals.
Monitor progress and contribute to the implementation of support plans and interventions.

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

Has experience working with children with Autism and/or additional educational needs.
Is patient, nurturing, and able to build positive relationships with children.
Understands the importance of consistency, routine, and individualised support.
Can adapt learning activities to meet the child's needs.
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or has equivalent experience (desirable).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
