Job Title: Teaching Assistant for Key Stage 1 - Specialising in Autism (1:1)

Location: Newham, London

Are you a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact in a primary school environment? Our vibrant school in Newham is seeking a committed individual to join our team and provide invaluable 1:1 support for a non-verbal autistic child in Key Stage 1. Please note this role will start in September.

Position Overview: We are currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work closely with a non-verbal autistic child, offering specialized 1:1 support within Key Stage 1. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing the engagement model and closely monitoring progress through various activities and tasks tailored to the child's unique needs.

Responsibilities:

* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to an autistic, non-verbal child in Key Stage 1.

* Implement and adapt the engagement model to suit the child's individual requirements.

* Facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

* Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to create and implement personalised learning plans.

* Monitor and assess the child's progress, adjusting strategies as needed to foster development.

* Foster positive relationships with the child, promoting a sense of security and trust.

Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Teaching Assistant, with a focus on supporting children with autism.

* Understanding of the engagement model and experience implementing it effectively.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.

* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of non-verbal autistic children.

* Ability to adapt teaching methods to cater to individual learning styles.
