Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is looking for Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Wigan.

Acting as a work-finding service, we provide supply cover to a range of Primary, Secondary and SEND Schools; from small village schools to large secondary schools. We are looking for Teaching Assistants to support students from Early Years all the way up to Key Stage 5. Strong behaviour management skills are essential.

Prospero Teaching work with both experienced Teaching Assistants and those first embarking on their career in education by helping you find your next position. Some contracts may be extended from day-to-day bookings to longer term cover.

Location - Various locations across Wigan
Position - Teaching Assistant
Type of work - Support students either by supervising a small group of students in activities, working 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 with students, aid the Teacher in the classroom.
Start date - September 2026
Duration / Likely Duration - Day to day bookings, with the potential for extension depending on schools
End date (if applicable) - N/A
Contract type - Temporary
Full time/part time - Part time and full time depending on schools needs
Minimum rate of pay - Minimum rate £90 per day - Rate negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications
Hours - 8:30 am - 3:15pm (full day), half day (am or pm), individual lesson cover. Start and end time can vary from school to schoolEXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

Any teaching related qualifications are desired but not essential (Including teaching qualifications obtained abroad)
Teaching Assistant qualifications
SEN/SEMH Awareness
Previous experience working in a UK school, ideally up to at least 6 months
Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (desirable however not essential as training is provided)TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK
Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
Provide two professional references that cover the last two years, notwithstanding referencing any appropriate child-related work experience
Appropriate CV historyOTHER
