Cityworx are Recruiting for a number of Teaching Positions in partnership with a leading provider of specialist education.

Our client has a number of specialist independent schools offering unrivalled opportunities, securing sound educational outcomes with personalised, inclusive, and stimulating programmes of learning.

Their schools provide specialist education for children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs including ADHD, Autism and complex learning needs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To undertake the teaching of SEN students with Education Health and Care Plans, across the range of SEN needs and ages, and particularly those learners with social, emotional and mental health difficulties and other related conditions.

2. To provide a quality of teaching and learning provision that can be judged to be at least ‘good’ and ensures all students make at least good progress.

3. Be accountable for the attainment and progress of all students who are taught by the post holder.

4. Produce student IEPs, monitor student social communication development, contribute to provision mapping and annual reviews for students.

5. Supervise and guide the work of any support staff who are assigned to work with post holder’s classes/students.

6. To provide pastoral support and guidance for all students in the post holder’s care, classes or tutor group.

7. To contribute to the overall development work of the teaching and learning area team.

Teaching

1. To set clear learning objectives and plan for and teach across the whole age and ability range.

2. Use assessment data plan lessons and learning materials to motivate and support all students to make at least good progress.

3. To have high aspirations and set challenging targets for all students.

4. To set high expectations for students behaviour, learning, motivation and presentation of work by establishing a purposeful working atmosphere and providing challenging and inspirational learning experiences.

5. To work in collaboration with Teaching Assistants assigned to any teaching group/student within the group.

6. Take account of students’ prior attainment, learning styles and needs and use them to set appropriately challenging targets and learning activities.

7. To promote and develop literacy and numeracy skills throughout teaching and learning activities so that literacy and numeracy do not present barriers to learning.

8. To provide intervention activities for those students who need support to boost attainment/progress or who require additional challenge.

9. Set work for students absent from school for health or disciplinary reasons.

10. To manage the behaviour of students within the classroom in line with the school’s Behaviour Policy.

11. To ensure that teaching room, resources and equipment are maintained in good order, with particular regard to Health & Safety and security of property.

12. To use ICT and other technologies and learning resources as learning tools to inspire and motivate learners.

13. To ensure that a stimulating learning environment is maintained in the classroom, including provision of a high quality of display.

Assessment Recording and Reporting

Teachers are responsible for maintaining detailed notes and plans of lessons, as well as recording students’ work, attendance, and attainment consistently. They must assess and return students’ work promptly, in accordance with school policy, providing constructive feedback with clear targets and guidance for improvement. Keeping high-quality records is essential to track and monitor student progress, utilizing data and teacher assessment records effectively. Teachers should use this data to set aspirational targets and plan challenging activities to meet these targets. Additionally, they are required to report and record student attainment, progress, and assessment results within the school’s structure. Setting and marking examinations, assessments, and coursework, as assigned by any member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), is also a key responsibility. Teachers are expected to attend Parent/Teacher Evenings and individual meetings to keep parents and carers informed about their child's progress and attainment. Being familiar with school records and information relating to students is crucial to ensure all students can access the curriculum and are supported to achieve well and make good progress.

Pastoral Responsibilities

Teachers are responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons. They participate in the pastoral organization of the school as form tutors and serve as the first point of contact for parents and carers of their assigned tutor group. Additionally, they monitor and set targets for the social and academic progress of individuals in the tutor group, undertake the delivery of tutorial programs as required, and promote good attendance and punctuality. Teachers also monitor attendance in accordance with the school’s Attendance Policy and provide support or intervention for those who struggle to maintain high standards.

Minimum requirements:

* QTS or QTLS Qualification

* Have proven teaching and learning experience

* Have up to date safeguarding and child protection qualifications/knowledge and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

It is the nature of the work of our client that tasks, and responsibilities may be unpredictable and varied. All employees are expected to work flexibly when the occasion arises and tasks which are not specifically covered in the job description may have to be undertaken. These additional duties will normally be to cover unforeseen circumstances or changes in work. If the additional responsibility or task becomes a regular of frequent part of the staff member’s job, it will be included in the job description, in consultation with the member of staff.

Staff are required to become proficient in positive behavioural management techniques, including physical intervention. Appropriate training will be provided
