Simply Education are seeking an experienced Teacher to join an established team of an alternative provision in Stockport. This position will entail working 5 days a week teaching KS3 and KS4 students with various subjects and further studies. This setting supports pupils with ADHD and ASD.

About the school:

This small setting caters for around 20 young people aged 11-16 who have experienced a negative impact on their lives and need a boost in self-esteem and confidence. The school focuses on changing students’ mindset and giving their students all the tools to be successful in their future. The students work in small groups and classrooms are comparatively smaller than that of a mainstream setting; pupils are taught in small class sizes of between 3-5 pupils and there is a high staff to pupil ratio.

The role of a Teacher in an Alternative Provision:

In this role, each day is different and so adapting to new environments and different learning styles is key. You will be enthusiastic about teaching different subjects in the School day and supporting students who have become disengaged with learning and display challenging behaviour. You must demonstrate a high level of pastoral care as you will be supporting learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. We are looking for someone that can make a positive difference to learning and be creative in their methods and teaching styles.

Requirements for the Teacher:

- Qualified Teacher Status

- Knowledge of the National Curriculum and experience teaching a range of different subjects similar to a primary model classroom

- Ability to effectively develop the confidence, language, behaviour and social skills of pupils between the ages of 11-16

- Quick thinking with the ability to adapt with ease to new environments

- An understanding of working with students with SEND and SEMH needs

- An understanding of pupils’ behaviour patterns when experiencing complex needs and trauma

- A good understanding of behaviour management and how to implement this into your practice.
