Description:

Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security and Aerospace sectors, is currently seeking a Systems Safety Engineer for a 6-month contract position based in Brighton. You will be required to work onsite 4 days per week for this role.

Skills and Experience:

Essential

Experience working within complex engineering systems (aerospace, defence, or high-integrity industries).
Understanding of systems engineering principles and lifecycle management.
Some experience or exposure to system safety engineering.
Experience managing technical documentation and requirements.
Ability to work within multi-disciplinary engineering teams.Desirable

Experience with safety standards such as ARP4754, ARP4761, MIL-STD-882, and Def Stan 00-056.
Experience with requirements management.
Experience contributing to hazard analyses (FMEA, FTA, FHA).
Understanding of reliability analyses.
Knowledge of Reliasoft software tools.
Aerospace or defence programme experience.

Safety Engineering:

Support the development of system safety artefacts in accordance with aerospace and defence standards.
Assist in performing hazard identification and analysis activities.
Contribute to safety assessments such as Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
Support the development and maintenance of Hazard Logs.
Ensure safety requirements are captured, allocated, and verified within the system design.
Managing the Quarterly Airworthiness Review Board.

Collaboration:

Work closely with design, mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams.
Support engagement with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Assist in resolving technical issues and integration challenges.

Qualifications:

Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with experience in the aerospace/defence industry in the System Safety domain.
In lieu of a degree, significant experience working within the aerospace/defence industry in the System Safety domain.

Personal Attributes:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work across disciplines and communicate complex technical information.
Detail-oriented with a focus on safety and system integrity.
Proactive and able to take ownership of tasks within a structured engineering process.
Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Office application software.
