Systems Administrator
Lincoln | Hybrid | Full-time
A well-established name in UK technology is looking for a Systems Administrator to join its team in Lincoln. This is a hands-on infrastructure role inside a business that takes its systems, security and uptime seriously, with genuine scope to drive improvements rather than just keep the lights on.
You'll be a first point of contact for technical issues across the organisation, working closely with senior engineers on everything from routine administration and ticket resolution through to infrastructure projects, migrations and upgrades.
What you'll be doing
* Provide operational support across server and infrastructure environments, administering Windows Server and/or Linux systems
* Support cloud-based systems, including Microsoft 365, working alongside the Cloud Engineering team
* Support virtualisation platforms, storage, backup and recovery operations
* Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents and service requests, keeping tickets accurate and within SLA
* Carry out scheduled patching, upgrades and approved changes, following change control and technical standards
* Monitor infrastructure performance, utilisation and capacity, respond to alerts and escalate recurring risks
* Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to the knowledge base
* Support infrastructure projects, migrations and upgrades under the direction of senior engineers
* Help build and maintain automation scripts to cut down repetitive manual work
What we're looking for
* Hands-on experience administering Windows Server and/or Linux environments
* Some exposure to cloud platforms (Microsoft 365) and virtualisation technologies
* Comfortable working within ticket-based incident and change processes
* An interest in scripting and automation, even if not yet advanced
* A clear communicator, confident as a first point of contact for colleagues at all levels
