Support Worker – Complex Needs | Southampton
£14.50 per hour | Permanent | 36–48 hours per week
RTC Resources is recruiting experienced Support Workers on behalf of a specialist care provider in Southampton.
This opportunity is suited to care professionals with experience supporting individuals with complex needs and behaviours that challenge. You will work as part of a coordinated team, with enhanced staffing arrangements that may include 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 support.
The role

Provide compassionate, person-centred support that promotes dignity and independence.
*
Follow detailed care plans, risk assessments and behavioural support plans.
*
Recognise individual triggers and use de-escalation to reduce distress.
*
Assist with personal care, meals, medication, daily living and community activities as required.
*
Maintain accurate records and promptly report safeguarding concerns or incidents.
*
Communicate effectively with colleagues, families and other professionals.
*
Follow least restrictive practice and undertake physical intervention only as a last resort within authorised arrangements and current training.
What we’re looking for
*
Previous UK experience supporting people with complex needs and behaviours that challenge.
*
Experience of 3:1, 4:1 or 5:1 staffing, or comparable intensive support settings.
*
Practical experience managing behavioural escalation and physical aggression.
*
Strong de-escalation, teamwork and communication skills.
*
Safeguarding awareness and clear professional boundaries.
DMI/Dynamis training is highly desirable. Candidates with current or recent PMVA or other recognised physical intervention training may be considered, subject to review and completion of required training and competency assessments.
