Support and Development Worker – Empower Unity

Location: Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire

Permanent: Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £12p/h - £21,841 per annum

21 HSC are looking to recruit a Support and Development Worker on an exclusively retained basis for Unity.

The Support and Development Worker plays a crucial role in enhancing the lives of adults with learning disabilities by providing proactive care and support. Their support helps to promote independence, well-being and social inclusion, both in a 1:1 and group setting.

You may be required to travel to the other Empower services which are based in Dalmarnock and Dalmuir, mileage expenses would be paid if so.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

* Responsible for providing support to service users in a way that is respectful, promotes dignity, choice and control.

* Motivate and encourage service users to achieve their stated goals.

* Act as a key worker for a number of service users.

* Provide some support for personal needs of service users

* Engage Service users in conversations and meetings about plans for activities.

* Demonstrate skills to groups i.e. Cookery, Craft, Gardening etc.

* Engage with Service Users parents/ guardians and stakeholders, providing service updates.

* Communicate effectively with Service Users, the staff team and visitors.

* Promote a person-centred support in everything Unity do.

* Contribute to team meetings and Development days.

* Understand legislation and local policies covering working with Vulnerable Adults, and the reporting procedures associated with these.

* Understand the SSSC Codes of Practice.

Essential/Desirable Skills and Attributes

* Minimum of 1 years experience of care or support, working with learning disabilities and/or autism is essential.

* A full Driving licence and access to a car is essential.

* SVQ in Social Care is desirable.
