The Role

JM Selection are recruiting for an experienced Supply Planner to join a busy procurement team in Cardiff.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in purchasing, procurement or supply chain who is confident managing suppliers, purchase orders, stock and inventory while working in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring products are available when required, maintaining accurate supply and inventory information, and developing strong relationships with both domestic and international suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

* Review the open order book on a daily basis and take action where required.

* Liaise with suppliers to obtain order acknowledgements, proof of delivery, lead times, pricing and other relevant information.

* Place domestic and international purchase orders and manage all associated administration.

* Arrange and coordinate shipment plans with international suppliers.

* Review stock profiles and work with suppliers and Product Managers to ensure the correct portfolio of stocked, special and ROL items.

* Maintain inventory control procedures and ensure stock records remain accurate.

* Manage aged and slow-moving stock and support quarterly stock rotation activities.

* Assist with the selection and development of service providers, including freight forwarders.

* Identify opportunities to improve purchasing prices and commercial terms.

* Develop and maintain strong, professional supplier relationships.

* Review supplier rebates and work towards agreed targets.

* Carry out vendor database clean-up and maintenance.

* Complete mass uploads, including monthly price list updates.

* Gather relevant supplier data and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the product database.

* Support the wider procurement and supply chain function as required.

About You

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain environment and be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a busy setting.

You should have:

* Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement or supply chain role.

* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.

* Good numeracy and literacy skills.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Experience dealing directly with suppliers.

* Good negotiation skills and commercial awareness.

* Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.

* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft Office packages.

* The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving.

* The ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.

Experience working with international suppliers, freight forwarders, stock management or ERP systems would be advantageous.
