Subject Leader for A Level Photography

Salary:                £34,414 - £44,000 (£27,531 - £35,200)
Benefits:             Up to £12,584 (£10,067) Employer Pension contributions and 52 Days Annual Leave (pro rata) (incl. Bank Holidays & Christmas Closure)
Location:            Newcastle College site
Hours:                 Part-time 29.6 hours per week

The group is currently home to a population of over 6,000 full-time students and around 500 students on higher education programmes. We have over 4,000 part-time or adult learners and 2,000 apprentices where we work with over 800 individual employers.  Our Sixth Form provision has a reputation for high academic achievement and excellence.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, suitably qualified individual who will play a crucial role in realising the department’s strategic objectives. You will be an inspiring lecturer with a background in photography and a strong portfolio of personal work.   

You will need to demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity towards a variety of learner needs and support the delivery team with a range of innovative teaching approaches to enable learners to reach their full potential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

To deliver lively and interactive teaching, learning and assessment to an outstanding standard on a range of programmes as appropriate.

To secure outstanding success for all learners and ensure targets for recruitment, retention, achievement and success, attendance and progression are met.

To support the development of the A level programme and contribute constructively to teaching on other related programmes.

Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of examination papers, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.

Required Skills and Experience:

Has a relevant qualification to degree level

Has or is willing to study for a relevant teaching qualification (DTLLS, PGCE or equivalent).

Has expertise in traditional and digital photography

Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
