Job Description

Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Sub Haulage Manager to join our Transport Department at our Appleton Thorn site. 

As Sub Haulage Manager you will be required to manage volumes covered by 3rd party partners and our contract haulier fleet.

The role gives exposure to senior management forums and decision making, and as such requires strong commercial and operational awareness.

Through Conference Calls and data analysis, this person will ensure a strategic plan is made in managing customer volumes to support the Stobart network in delivering efficient plans whilst also satisfying customer service expectations.

Liaising with key external subcontract suppliers is a fundamental part of the role & constantly continue to build relationships.

As the successful candidate, you will contribute to the overall success of the business, and will report directly to the Head of UK Transport.

This is a full time, permanent position working Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm offering a competitive salary and package with the opportunity to work for a forward thinking market leader.

Job responsibilities of Sub Haulage Manager include:

Manage all aspects of the business sub haulage and contract haulier team.
Analyse and report on weekly variances to budget.
Set out weekly sub-contract strategy based in forecasted volumes.
Manage 3rd haulier performance.
Manage and control all external sub hauliers to ensure 100% legal compliance.
Manage and control all claims & returns that may arise to reduce the company’s liability of losses.
Through data analysis and regular communication, have a continual grasp of the current state of play regarding planned and unplanned work. Being prepared and comfortable to share the information at any time with members of Senior Management.
Ensure contract haulier fleet achieve or exceed budgeted targets.
Support the contract haulier team with any operational issues.

Qualifications

To apply for the role of Sub Haulage Manager, you will possess the following skills, experiences and qualifications:

Strong commercial awareness.
Strong planning background required to support Contract Haulier Team.
Experience managing a team of staff.
Strong communication skills both internal and external.
Successful candidate must be a strong negotiator.
Strong analytical skills and proficient with Microsoft Excel
