The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and learner-focused Study Skills Officer to join our Student Services team. Reporting to the Librarian, you will play a key role in planning, developing and delivering high-quality study skills support across both Further Education and Higher Education provision.

You will work directly with students through individual appointments, workshops, drop-ins, outreach activities and events, helping learners develop the academic, organisational and independent learning skills needed to succeed in their studies. Alongside delivering support, you will develop engaging resources and contribute to a college-wide approach to study skills, working collaboratively with curriculum teams, Teaching and Learning Coaches and Additional Learning Support colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on learner achievement, progression and confidence while contributing to the continuous improvement of study skills provision across the College.

About You

You will be passionate about supporting learners to achieve their full potential and have experience of working directly with young people in an educational or learner support environment. You will be confident delivering both one-to-one and group-based support, with the ability to engage students through a variety of methods and approaches.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills, experience of developing learning resources and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the College. You will be committed to inclusive practice and able to adapt your support to meet the needs of learners with a wide range of abilities and barriers to learning.

Below is a list of some of the key skills, qualifications and experience we are seeking for this exciting opportunity.

Required

* Level 4 qualification or equivalent.

* Maths and English GCSE grade C/4 or above.

* At least three years' experience of working with young people.

* Experience of supporting learners on a one-to-one basis.

* Experience of delivering group sessions, workshops and engaging presentations.

* Experience of differentiating learning resources to meet individual learner needs.

* Experience of building positive relationships with learners and encouraging positive behaviours.

* Experience of using library systems and processes for book loans, laptop loans and PC access

* Experience of collaboration with experts to scrutinise and improve practice
