Are you a Structural Engineer looking for greater ownership of your projects, closer client contact and a clear route to develop your career?

An established civil and structural engineering consultancy is looking for a Structural Engineer to join its collaborative Pontefract team. You will work across a varied portfolio of commercial, industrial and wider structural projects, with the opportunity to manage your own workload and build long-term client relationships as your knowledge of the business develops.

This is a role for someone who enjoys combining technical design work with surveys, reporting and practical project delivery. You will have direct access to experienced directors, structured support during your first few months and increasing autonomy as you become familiar with the consultancy’s clients and standards.

What you will be doing
Completing structural analysis and design for steel and concrete structures
Producing clear, accurate structural calculation packs
Working on existing buildings, alterations and new structural schemes
Using Tekla Tedds and AutoCAD to support design and technical drawing work
Undertaking structural surveys and preparing professional reports
Supporting commercial and industrial projects, including machinery foundation design
Liaising with clients, contractors and colleagues to keep projects progressing
Taking increasing ownership of individual projects and client relationships
Travelling to client sites when requiredThe wider project mix includes commercial and industrial work alongside projects across the consultancy’s broader civil and structural portfolio.

What you will bring

You will need demonstrable practical capability in:

Steel design
Concrete design
Structural work involving existing buildings and alterations
Structural surveys and report writing
Tekla Tedds
AutoCAD
Producing accurate structural calculation packsYou should also be comfortable communicating with clients and working towards independent project ownership.

IEng status would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from Structural Engineers who are actively working towards professional recognition.

You must have the right to work in the UK, a full UK driving licence and access to your own car for business travel.

Salary, benefits and working pattern
Salary up to £45,000, with some flexibility for a particularly strong candidate
Permanent, full-time position
Flexible start and finish times
Three days per week in the Pontefract office
Hybrid working available after a three-month probation period, typically one to two days from home
Company-wide performance bonus paid every six months
Annual salary review
24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 26 days after two years

Business mileage reimbursed at 55p per mile
