Location: UK Wide – Fully Remote / Hybrid Working

Job Type: Permanent

The Opportunity

J3A Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Civil / Structural Design Engineer to join an established specialist civil engineering contractor delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK.

With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued business growth, our client is looking to strengthen its engineering and design capabilities across several levels of seniority.

This opportunity is open to Intermediate, Experienced and Associate-level engineers, with salaries ranging from £40,000 to £100,000 depending on technical expertise, experience and professional qualifications.

The business specialises in technically challenging civil engineering projects, including tunnelling, shaft construction, microtunnelling, directional drilling and underground infrastructure.

One of the biggest attractions is the flexibility on offer. The position can be largely remote, with only occasional attendance required at site or office locations.

Salary & Experience Levels

*

Intermediate Engineer: £40,000 – £60,000

*

Experienced / Senior Engineer: £50,000 – £80,000

*

Associate Engineer: £80,000 – £100,000

We're interested in speaking with Civil / Structural Design Engineer candidates across all three levels, from developing engineers through to established technical leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on experience and seniority, responsibilities will include:

*

Producing and reviewing civil and structural engineering designs for major infrastructure projects.

*

Supporting engineering design across tunnelling, shafts, microtunnelling and heavy civil engineering schemes.

*

Undertaking technical calculations, design assessments and engineering reviews.

*

Developing practical, cost-effective and buildable engineering solutions.

*

Working closely with project managers, construction teams, clients and external consultants.

*

Supporting design coordination throughout the project lifecycle.

*

Providing technical guidance on complex engineering challenges.

*

At senior levels, overseeing design delivery, supporting junior engineers and providing technical leadership.

Experience & Requirements

The ideal Civil / Structural Design Engineer will have a background in civil or structural engineering design, preferably within specialist infrastructure or heavy civil engineering environments.

Experience in any of the following areas would be particularly advantageous:

*

Tunnelling and underground infrastructure

*

Shaft construction and design

*

Microtunnelling and pipe jacking

*

Horizontal directional drilling (HDD)

*

Trenchless engineering

*

Heavy civil engineering and structural design

*

Ground engineering and major infrastructure projects

Candidates from broader heavy civil engineering backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply, even without direct tunnelling experience.

A relevant Civil or Structural Engineering qualification is desirable, while chartered status or progress towards chartership would be particularly beneficial f
