Full Time

12 Month Contract Initially

Bristol / Hybrid (3 days a week in the office during probation) Attending meetings on site as and when required

Our Client is looking for a Structural Engineer to join their team on an initial 12 month contract basis.

The successful candidate will provide professional surveying services and project management, particularly those involving structural, dimensional and topographical surveys and design solutions, to Our Clients stock of dwellings, buildings and land managed by Landlord Services and ensure work carried out is of the highest quality and achieves value for money.

Carry out structural surveys and provide detailed reports, assessments and design solutions, as required.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

* Degree in Structural engineering, diploma or HNC equivalent or equivalent professional qualification in a construction field and corporate membership of the institution of structural Engineers or with substantial post qualification experience AND able to demonstrate significant relevant knowledge of complex structures.

* Knowledge and understanding of the principles of project management and demonstrable project management skills.

* Practical experience in a role as “technical expert” in a building, surveying/structural surveying or similar construction related environment providing design solutions.

* Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety issues and requirements related to the Construction Industry, including current CDM Regulations.

* Expert knowledge of the different types of construction of residential buildings, including multi-storey blocks, their potential defects and the investigation and implementation of solutions, particularly in relation to compliance for structural and fire safety of complex buildings as proposed by the Hackitt Review.

* Demonstrable ability to co-ordinate professional staff, take ownership and be accountable for all aspects of a service/project/programme from end-to-end, ensuring delivery within time-scales, high quality and excellent customer satisfaction.

* Demonstrate evidence of applying innovative and analytical approaches to solving complex and challenging problems

* Ability to liaise and cooperate with other teams and contractors to ensure Service outcomes are achieved.

* Demonstrate ability to supervise projects or programmes to achieve outcomes including meeting financial and budgetary targets, developing service, ensuring high quality workmanship and achieving value for money.

* Ability to provide written reports, including embedded photographs and to create and make presentation material using IT tools and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications or equivalent including the following: Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, and have a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.

* Must hold a valid, full Driver’s license.

Desirable:

* Experience of leading and supporting staff in a service delivery environment.

* A project management qualification
