Description:

We’re supporting a well-established, design-led engineering consultancy with a strong presence across the UK, currently looking to appoint a Structural Engineer to join their Cardiff office. This is an excellent opportunity for a Structural Engineer with at least four years’ post-graduate experience who is ready to take the next step in their career within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment. The business has built an outstanding reputation for delivering technically challenging projects across the education, healthcare and residential sectors.

You’ll be joining a close-knit, highly experienced structural team working predominantly on education schemes typically valued around £20m. With several major projects in the pipeline ranging up to £70m and £100m, there is significant exposure to larger, more complex builds. In addition to education projects, the team is actively involved in healthcare developments and smaller residential schemes, with genuine scope to move into larger residential and commercial tower projects as the portfolio continues to grow. This role offers hands-on design responsibility, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully from concept through to completion within a supportive and technically strong office.

The client is seeking a technically capable Structural Engineer with at least four years’ consultancy experience, confident in delivering design calculations and structural analysis across a range of materials. A strong working knowledge of structural analysis software is essential, with experience using Tekla Structural Designer highly desirable. You should be comfortable managing your own workload, collaborating within a team, and engaging with clients and external stakeholders.

What’s On Offer

Exposure to large-scale projects (£70m-£100m) with real design responsibility.

Clear pathway toward Senior Engineer and Chartership support (if not already achieved).

Opportunity to work on high-profile education and healthcare schemes that positively impact communities.

A collaborative, supportive team environment with direct access to senior leadership.

Hybrid working flexibility and a modern Cardiff office location.

Involvement in expanding sectors including high-rise residential and commercial developments.

What You Need To Succeed

Minimum 4 years’ experience within a UK structural consultancy.

Strong design capability in steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures.

Proficiency in structural analysis software; experience with Tekla Structural Designer is highly desirable.

Ability to produce and review detailed calculations, reports and technical drawings.

Experience working on education and healthcare projects.

Confident communicator, able to liaise with architects, contractors and clients.

Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes.

Ambition to progress professionally and contribute to a growing regional office.

Chartered (or working towards) with the IStructE or ICE.

A strong academic background with a BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
