About the role

Trident has an exciting opportunity for 1 new Street Activity Navigators to join our expanding team. The navigators will have a particular focus on those people involved in street activities such as begging.

The navigators will work in conjunction with the Trident outreach service, and external partners including the BCC Community Safety Team and West Midlands Police to ensure a holistic approach is used to tackle street begging. The emphasis being on engagement with vulnerable adults to help facilitate access to support services and address the issues that may contribute to street begging. The role will also educate the public around alternative giving schemes such as Change into Action.

Purpose of the role

The focus of the role will be to initiate contact via street outreach with adult people found to be begging city wide and develop long term trusted relationship

To facilitate access to relevant support service

Enable access to meaningful activities to support with Health & Wellbeing

To work within current Birmingham City Council Modern Day Slavery protocols to identify and support any individuals who are forced into street activity as a form of modernday slavery

Educate the public around alternative giving schemes such as Change into Action

About You

To apply for this role, you must understand the issues, causes, and solutions to rough sleeping. It is desired that you will have a wide-ranging experience of working with single homeless people with differing levels of support needs and from different backgrounds and an understanding of the resettlement pathways that need to be in place to reduce rough sleeping.
