General Overview:
The Stores & Goods in Operative expediates the transport of materials to and from various departments to ensure production material needs are met throughout the organisation.
They are also responsible for receiving deliveries, handling of materials, and goods-in. It is a hands-on role that requires active participation and communication with all departments. They are responsible for ensuring Health & Safety is maintained within their work area and possess the ability to work with the team to actively encourage the development of processes, procedures, and improvements.
They should possess a thorough knowledge of the functional area within their remit and/or have experience in a similar role.
Ideally, they must be experienced in the use of Excel, Word and Sage and have a good level of IT competence.
Stores
* Maintaining stock accuracy, ensuring location quantities match Sage system quantities
* Ensuring that the housekeeping, in the stores area, is kept to a high standard
* Issuing material to Production areas, ensuring that the formal requisition process is used.
* Carry out regular stock audits, using a schedule agreed with Line Manager
* Ensuring that production ‘overs’ are added to stock on Sage and relevant personal are informed
* Identify any obsolescent or slowmoving stock and report to Manager
* Complete and maintain all relevant paperwork and reports
* Identify improvements to processes within area of responsibility
* Any other roles as required by Line Manager
Goods In
* Check / Inspect goods in by verifying the product quantity and quality delivered against delivery paperwork including engineering drawings, material conformance certification and purchase orders whilst following all relevant procedures. Any discrepancies or damage to be reported to the relevant Manager.
* Inspection of goods may require the use of measurement devices such as vernier calipers, micrometres, and other electronic measurement instruments. Training will be provided.
* Allocate a Good Received Note number (GRN) to products received.
* Place product into the correct stores location ensuring that the first in first out (FIFO) principle is followed.
* Complete and maintain all relevant paperwork and reports
* To continually develop the goods in process whilst liaising with other departments
* Any other roles as required by Line Manager
Cover
* Processing delivery notes on Sage system. (Training will be provided on Sage system) Arranging the appropriate transport, carrier. Liasing with Sales regarding any issues with their orders.
* Provide assistance to packing, despatch and other areas within the department during busy periods and for holiday cover as directed by Line Manager
Required Skills:
* Ability to work logically and accurately
* Able to manage own time and workload
* Able to work on own initiative
* Be able to demonstrate competent Maths and English skills
* Have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* To make and encourage a positive contribution and continuous improvement within the team
* Have a flexible approach to duties
* Previous Stores duties would be an advantage
* IT competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, other company IT systems are in use but training would be provided
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
No specific qualifications are required however candidates should have of a good all-round level of education
Additional Requirements:
* Use of a forklift is essential for this role. A forklift license would be beneficial but not essential as training can be provided
* Current and valid UK driving license
