Description:

PROMAN is looking for Store Supervisor for minimum 6 months contract work at Cambridge University.

Main duties and responsibilities below:

1)Describe the key areas of work need to be undertaken by the role holder in order to meet the purpose of the role as stated above. It is anticipated that no duty should exceed 3 or 4 lines. Please list the tasks in order of importance.

2)Check goods on arrival. Check delivery notes against the orders and record details, issue stores goods using the departmental inventory system, maintain stock levels. Maintain good order of ‘dead’ stock, return unused goods to suppliers or back to stock as appropriate. Ensure tidiness and security of stores and yard, reporting any faults and hazards as required.

3)Ensure stores counter is covered throughout the working day. Receive and book in deliveries, book out stock as required, keep the stores tidy and stocked to min/max levels. Perform regular counts of the stock and be involved in the full stocktake by all purchasing and supplies staff.

4)Help implement process improvements. Assist in updating work instructions, be responsible for safe and secure storage and transportation of hazardous materials where applicable, be familiar with legal documentation and vehicle signage requirements for this. Supervise transportation of chemical waste from the building into and across the yard safely.

5)Raise purchase orders for goods and services on departmental and University finance systems both from requisitions and stock shortages reports. Ensure that stock does not fall below the minimum levels, update the items table to include new items, assist with filing and other administrative tasks to enable an efficient purchasing service.

6)Provide cover at the stores counter. Receive and log requests and escalate any emergency requests, deal with enquiries from staff regarding product availability/delivery, receive and safely store materials/goods.

7)Maintain a secure goods-in yard. Monitor and control access to the yard and all vehicular movement and be aware of hazards around any people in the yard. Help guide deliveries into/out of site and assist with unloading stock to stores as required.

8)Assist visitors (services/maintenance etc) through the yard who require access to RDC, communicate with the organiser to check that they are expected and ensure they are correctly signed in and out from the building and are briefed for health and safety regulations as required

9)Performing the role of fire warden for the designated area to ensure the safety of all occupants in the workplace in a fire emergency. In the event of a fire emergency, coordinating the evacuation of all occupants and ensuring that everybody is safely evacuated from the building.

10)Flexible shift pattern of work is expected to staff Stores/Yard during operational hours. Uniform will be worn while on shift.

Requirements: See below experience, skills, qualifications needed. (Essential or Desirable)

Experience:

· Experience of working with purchasing systems (Essential)

· Previous experience working within a goods in yard or construction site. (Desirable)

Skills:

· Knowledge of stores maintenance and/or purchasing (Essential)

· Good communication and customer care skills (Essential)

· Good interpersonal skills to interact with customers at all levels (Essential)

· Good organisational skills (Essential)

· Basic IT skills (Essential)

· Knowledge of COSHH regulations/requirements (Essential)

Qualifications:

· GCSE Maths and English/NVQ level 2 or equivalent level of practical experience (Essential)

· Forklift / reach truck trained (Essential)

Additional requirements:

· Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual handling tasks when necessary (Desirable)

Hours of work: 36.5 hours p/week, will need to flexible between the hours of 07:30 – 18:00, Monday – Friday. Shifts to be determined.
